ENNISCORTHY CREDIT UNION held the annual scholarship draw on Tuesday November 12th at the Riverside Park Hotel. With a huge entry of 79 Third Level and PLC students and a scholarship fund of €9,000, the room was buzzing with excitement about who would be the favoured ones on the night.
Liam Waters who acted as MC introduced Nick Cosgrave, Chairman of Enniscorthy Credit Union. Nick spoke about the cost of third level education and how in Ireland over 90% of parents help with the cost of this education and the strain it can take on every family. To offer support to our student members and their families, the board decided back in 1994 that it would be a good idea to put some money towards a third level scholarship. In the last 25 years Enniscorthy Credit Union have awarded over €115,000 in total towards the education of young people in our community. This year €9,000 will be awarded to 10 students which will help them financially for the year ahead.
Nick pledged Enniscorthy Credit Unions commitment to its members and Education, he highlighted the fact that Enniscorthy Credit Union have given over €1 million in Education loans to 238 members in the last 12 months.
