Plan Your Christmas and Enjoy That Special Time of Year

With the sad closure of so many voluntary Penny Banks in our Community, we would like to assure people who always saved in a Penny Bank and relied on it to help them through Christmas, that Enniscorthy Credit Union has a Penny Bank Savings Club and we welcome anyone working or living in our common bond to join us in our Penny Bank and to keep this tradition going in our community.

Features of a Penny Bank Account with Enniscorthy Credit Union:

New Savings Account

Separate from all other Credit Union accounts. The account is usually locked in early January each year.

Save Regularly for Christmas

Direct debit or cash payments can be debited weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.

Savings Locked In

Savings locked in until the payout date in October/November each year.

Online Banking

Transfer money in by EFT or using a debit card. Set up a regular payment from your wages each week.

It’s Never Too Late

Whenever you can, is the best time to think about saving and budgeting for what is the most expensive time of the year.

Build Good Habits

Getting into the habit of spreading the cost of Christmas throughout the year takes the sting out of the cost of Christmas, so many members LOVE and rely on the Penny Bank each year.

How To Apply

Just ask one of our friendly staff about opening a Penny Bank Account. If you are not already a member you will need to join. Join us online to open an account (single accounts, over 16s) or make an appointment in any of our offices.

We can only allow withdrawals on an account by the account holder, unless a Third-Party Withdrawal Mandate is in place, which includes Penny Bank Accounts. This is for the safety and security of all our members. You may be asked for ID when making a withdrawal, so please make sure you have some with you.

If you need to access your Penny Bank Savings during the year this can be done in our office, just ask at the counter.
